My name is Stefan van den Akker and I am a software engineer at the largest e-commerce company in the Netherlands, bol.com. When I’m not coding at work, I’m either studying for my Computer Science degree or working on some side-project (see my Gitlab account and be prepared to be blown away). I started out as a self-taught programmer, but decided it would be worth it to get a well-rounded education in computer science. In university I majored in Russian, which by all means counts as a pretty decent preparation for a career in programming, since it is a well-known fact that Russian people, forced by the rigid and complex structure of their language, have an intuitive advantage in programming. (This is all scientifically proven, of course, and not just conjecture from someone who tries to justify their curricular decisions).
